Chatuchak, the world’s largest weekend market, often dubbed by locals as JJ Market, has gone cashless. Beginning in June, shoppers will pay for purchases at any of the 15,000 stalls with a card using a QR code.
The market, which receives around 200,000 visitors a day, offer a dizzying variety of items ranging from handcrafted souvenirs and antique collectables to fashionable clothes and accessories. The scenic Chatuchak Park is nearby.
Opening times:
Chatuchak Park, daily from 4:30 a.m. till 9:30 p.m.;
Plant section, Wednesday and Thursday from 7:00 a.m. till 6:00 p.m.;
Chatuchak Weekend Market, Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. till 6:00 p.m.; and
JJ Green Night Market, daily from 6:00 p.m. till 1:30 a.m.
