Construction Causes Road Closure

31 August 2018

Part of Sukhumvit Road and the Central Road bypass tunnel will be closed from 2 to 6 September due to construction of a new pedestrian bridge.

The southbound lane of the Central Road bypass tunnel close from 7 p.m. on 2 September through 6 September. Drivers are urged to use the surface-level parallel road instead. Northbound tunnel traffic will be closed on 3 September from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., however the surface road will remain available to all vehicles. On 6 September, both sides of the tunnel and the surface roads will be closed from 8 p.m. and 10 p.m., respectively, until midnight.

Coming off Highway 7, the left turn toward central Pattaya will be blocked, although motorists can turn right onto North Road or make a U-turn and drive parallel to the railway toward Sattahip.

Northbound, traffic along Sukhumvit will be shut down at the Index Living Mall, with turns onto Soi Siam Country Club permitted.

The wheelchair-accessible pedestrian bridge will be equipped with elevators. It concludes large-scale construction of the Pattaya road tunnel. The bridge is expected to be commissioned by the end of 2018.
