CNN named Thailand’s traditional sticky rice with mango and thap thim krop, otherwise known as red rubies, as among the world’s top 50 desserts.

Thap thim krop can be found on menus of many Thai restaurants. It is made from water chestnuts soaked in red syrup, rolled in tapioca flour and boiled. This refreshing dish is served in chilled coconut milk with crushed ice.

Mango sticky rice is made with glutinous rice, Thailand’s staple food, fresh mango and coconut milk. Traditionally, the nam doc mai (sweet) or ok rong (sour) varieties of mango are used in the recipe.

In January, the world’s largest mango sticky rice dessert will be cooked in Bangkok.
