Patong Steps Up Enforcement on Illegal Trash Dumping

08 March 2019

Patong Mayor Chalermluck Kebsup has directly tackled the issue of excessive trash and litter on the streets. Now, any persons caught littering along the Patong beachfront will be fined THB1,000 (around US$31), whilst those found to be dumping rubbish will face a fine of up to THB 10,000 (around US$315). Thirty seven CCTV cameras will be installed along Thaweewong Road to spot offenders.

Patong Municipality has created a trash collection schedule and urged the public to put their garbage outside the gate from 6pm to 10pm in residential areas, after 10pm in business areas, and from 2am to 5am in entertainment areas such as Bangla Road. Mayor Chalermluck also requested people to use the Traffy Fondue mobile phone application to report littering and illegal waste dumping in the area.
