MasterCard Global Destinations Cities Index Ranks Bangkok as the Most Visited City

The Thai capital was named the world’s top destination city in terms of international overnight visitor arrivals in 2018 in the annual MasterCard Global Destinations Cities Index. This was the fourth year in a row that Bangkok claimed top spot. According to the survey, more than 22.8 million foreign travelers visited the city last year. The City of Angels is followed by Paris and London.

The Global Top 10 Destination Cities 2018 includes:

• Bangkok, Thailand — 22.8 mln visitors.

• Paris, France — 19.1 mln visitors.

• London, UK — 19.09 mln visitors.

• Dibai, UAE — 15.93 mln visitors.

• Singapore — 14.67 mln visitors.

• Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia — 13.79 mln visitors.

• New York, USA — 13.6 mln visitors.

• Istanbul, Turkey — 13.4 mln visitors.

• Tokyo, Japan — 12.93 mln visitors.

• Antalya, Turkey — 12.41 mln visitors.

The list of top cities by dollars spent is topped by Dubai with US$30.8 billion. Thailand’s Phuket was ranked 10th with visitor spending totaling US$12.01 billion.
