Petchaburi Readies for Annual Phra Nakhon Khiri Festival

06 February 2020

The annual Phra Nakhon Khiri Festival will be held between 7 and 16 February in Phetchaburi province. This year’s edition will celebrate the anniversary of Phra Nakhon Khiri Palace and King Rama IV. During these days, locals and visitors alike are encouraged to don period costumes. The festival will culminate in the impressive firework display.

Phra Nakhon Khiri Palace, otherwise known as Khao Wang, was built by King Mongkut in1860 as his summer residence. Perched atop a hill with sweeping views of the surrounding area, it comprises Wat Phra Keo Noi, a stupa, and a group of throne halls. In 1979 the complex was declared as a historical park.
