An oil slick, stretching for about 10 km, has covered the coastal area of Hua Hin city. All possible measures have been undertaken to clean the beaches. Meanwhile, the authorities advise tourists to keep themselves from swimming in the coming days, until the water is completely purified.
According to the department of the Navy of Thailand, one more oil film was found in 1 km off the coastline of resort and will soon reach the land. Samples of the oil spill have been sent to the research center.
The reason is still to be determined. Presumably the oil has been spilled from a cargo vessel.
