Thailand Readies for Senior Travelers

22 July 2016

The world’s population is aging, and Thailand intends to promote itself as an elder care provider.

Commerce Minister Apiradi Tantraporn said that her ministry's Business Development department is going to spur the growth of medical and healthcare businesses to provide high-quality treatment for senior travelers, The Nation reports.

"This group of people needs healthcare and medical service, and has high spending power. Thailand has hospitality facilities to serve this group of the world population and could be a hub of medical and healthcare service in the world market," Mrs. Tantraporn said.

Medical services in the Kingdom are less expensive than in other countries, making Thailand one of the world’s best values in wellness tourism. Each year, more than 4 million foreigners travel to Thailand to rejuvenate themselves and improve their health. With the opening of new medical facilities, expanding the range of services and enhancing the quality, Thailand will be able to receive even more visitors and become a world senior care hub.
