Trang

Despite the number of places waiting to tickle your fancy in terms of entertainment, the province of Trang is one that is rather subdued – read: not suited to clubbers. Vacationers who are tired of the hubbub of city life and large impersonal resorts will find the much-needed respite they have been searching for here in Trang.

Location

Made up of a small bit of mainland along 119 km of the Andaman Sea and 46 islands, Trang province is found in Thailand’s south, on the west coast of the Malay Peninsula. Approximately 830 km from Bangkok, a flight, which takes less than an hour-and-a-half, is the most convenient way to travel.

The nearest major international airport is located in Krabi, which services flights from Bangkok, Koh Samui, Singapore, and Kuala Lumpur.

Beach Vacations

Trang beaches are sandy, clean and uncrowded, framing a crystal clear sea.

Sights

Fans of nature and the antiquities will find that this is the province for them, as Trang is known for its fabulous jungle waterfalls and caves, and ancient Buddhist temples. Visit the Namtok Khao Chong wildlife sanctuary and Khlong Lamchan Park, as well as Mu Koh Petra National Park. Just 11 km from provincial capital is the local botanical garden. Often seen not far off the coast are the official mammals of Thailand – the dugongs, who often congregate on or near Koh Libong.

Entertainment and Activities

Wondering what to do while in Trang? Rent a boat and check out any of the 40 islands from three of the largest piers: Pak Meng, Ban Chao Mai, and Kuan Thung Kuu. Or, throw on a mask and go snorkeling or diving.

But why stop there – why not get married while you’re underwater! Join in the mass underwater wedding ceremony held every February by submitting a request in advance.

Facilities and Services

There is a wide range of hotels in Trang, from budget options right up to 5-star luxury, along with a great selection of restaurants, bars, shops, massage salons, and day spas.

Prices

Depending on what activities you choose, Trang can be a great option for the budget-conscious.

Attention!

The proximity of the Indian Ocean has a great effect on the climate. Monsoons are an issue year-round, and the rains continue even after Thailand’s wet season is supposed to have ceased, making the best time to vacation in Trang from December to May.
