Koh Talu

Koh Talu is one of three or four privately owned islands in Thailand. If you’re up for a quiet getaway, without the bells and whistles of typical Thai nightlife, then this is the place for you.

Location

Two hundred and forty hectares in size, Koh Talu is located in the Gulf of Thailand, about 170 km south of Hua Hin, which should not be confused with the deserted island Koh Ta Lu, 8 km from Samad. If you’re coming from Bangsafan by speedboat, your trip rounds out at a nice 30 minutes.

Beach Vacations

The island has three beautiful bays: Big, Pearl, and Thien, each of which is a great option to kick back and relax in the sand and surf.

Active Leisure and Entertainment

Dropping off rather quickly from the shore to a depth of 10-12 meters, the west coast of the island boasts a long-stretching coral reef, which makes for a fabulous snorkeling environment, featuring different species of coral, tropical fish, and other marine life. Should you opt to venture a little further from the island, you’ll undoubtedly come across moray eels, stingrays, turtles, parrotfish, and sea-moths.

But there’s lots of fishing, canoeing, and windsurfing too. You might also want to check out the 500-plus meter island cave complex set in spectacular scenery of jungles and limestone cliffs, along with the island jungles where sea turtles and giant bats call home.

Services

The island has only one hotel, Koh Talu Island Resort. Housing a restaurant and beach bar, it hosts many backpackers in all seasons. No other services are available on Koh Talu.

Please note:

Koh Talu is renowned for its incredible evergreen tropical forests, which are recommended for visits during the day only.
