Mae Takhrai has become Thailand’s 131st national park.
Covering parts of Chiang Mai and Lamphun provinces in the north of Thailand, the wildlife reserve occupies an area of 354 square kilometers and is home to a number of species, including deer, gibbons, bears, tigers, porcupines, and civets, as well as to many rare plants.
Visitors are invited to walk through dry evergreen and bamboo forests to explore the 15-meter high Namtok Tat Moe waterfall or to climb Doi Lanka, which rises 2,030 metres above sea level.
