During the Songkran festival, tolls will be waived on several highways in the Kingdom.
From 11-18 April, toll-free roads will include Highway 7 between Bangkok and Pattaya, Highway 9 from Bang Pa In to Bang Phli (Highway No.9), and the Buraphawithee Expressway.
Lifting tolls should ease traffic congestion during the long holiday and reduce the number of accidents, the government said. Last year, 1,559 accidents were reported during the festival week. Additionally, special checkpoints will be set up across the country to offer car maintenance services and refreshments to drivers.
