Residents of Thailand’s northeastern Loei province will celebrate the famous Phi Ta Khon, or Ghost festival, on 16-18 June.
The event, one of Thailand’s most unusual and vibrant festivals, features colorful processions, a parade of unique hand-painted masks, dance completions, and a variety of performances and activities. The festival is believed to have originated as a form of worship aimed to appease the spirits that protect locals and send rain for the harvest season.
