A reputable Thai-based blogger, Richard Barrow, reports that authorities have stepped up regulations governing the use of drones, especially over national parks.
To fly a drone over a wildlife reserve or a national park, a permit issued by the Department of National Parks, Wildlife, and Plant Conservation (DNP) in Bangkok is required, in addition to possession of a drone license. Offenders face a THB 1,000 fine. Phi Phi National Park is under special vigilance against unauthorized overflights.
