Special short-haul trains will be refurbished to carry passengers on a new 280-km “Go Riviera” route linking Bangkok and Sam Roi Yod district in Prachuap Khiri Khan, according to State Railways Deputy Governor Thanongsak Pongprasert. The rail line will extend along part of the coast to be promoted as the Thai Riviera.
The route will be launched in several years after the cars are completely refurbished and fitted with air-conditioning, and station facilities are remodeled to meet first-class railway service standards. Total investment in the project is estimated at THB 200 million (around US$6 million).
