Um Phra Dam Nam, a Buddhist festival originating from a legend, will be held on 7-12 October in Phetchabun province, in north-central Thailand.
The highlight of the celebration is a parade and the immersion of the Buddha image named Phra Phuttha Maha Thammaracha in the Pasak River. After the ceremony, the water in the river is believed to be sacred, and hundreds of people plunge into it. The festival also includes traditional dances that show respect to Lord Buddha, as well as various entertainment activities.
