Thailand’s Nan province was named ASEAN’s top Clean Tourist City for 2018-2020 during the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2018. His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn expressed his appreciation to local authorities and residents. Placid and serene, Nan is located in a spectacular green valley in northern Thailand. It is situated near the Nan River and borders Laos. Nan is home to numerous ethnic groups, including Thai Yuan, Thai Lue, Thai Puan, Thai Khoen, and Thai Yai, making it rich in languages and cultures. Most locals grow rice and fruit. Ecotourism enthusiasts are encouraged to visit the provinces’ six national parks, including scenic Doi Phukha National Park. This year, alongside 55 other regions, Nan was included in the Thai tourism agency’s Amazing Thailand Go Local campaign, which promotes regional tourism. In 2017, the province welcomed 804,609 foreign visitors, up 5.05% from 2015 numbers. Provincial authorities believe the region will soon become a popular tourist hub.
