The 36th annual Bo Sang Umbrella and Sankamphaeng Handicrafts Festival will be held on 18-20 January.

The event celebrates the community in Chiang Mai province that creates the Kingdom’s most renowned umbrellas. Traditionally, umbrellas are made from mulberry, bark paper, silk or cotton, using bamboo for ribs and struts. Each item is unique and meticulously painted by hand.

Visitors are invited to admire a variety of fancy parasols, decorated with traditional images of the north, dragons, and flower patterns.
The highlight of the festival is a colorful parade featuring lavishly adorned floats. The program also includes vibrant performances, fairs, and handcraft workshops.
