The annual Phanom Rung Historical Park Festival will take place in Buriram province from 31 March to 2 April, with the opening ceremony to be held on 31 March. The event celebrates a unique natural phenomenon where the rays of the rising sun come through all of the Phanom Rung Khmer temple’s 15 doorways. During these days, people will bring offerings to the Hindu god Shiva and other deities. The festivities include a procession paying tribute to Their Majesties King Maha Vajiralongkorn and his late father King Bhumibol. The parade will feature 10 deities on floats shaped as a swan, elephant, cow, rhinoceros, lion, peacock, Naga serpent, horse, buffalo, and a human giant. Visitors are also invited to enjoy spectacular light and sound shows, colorful performances, concerts, as well as to sample traditional delicacies at a local product fair.
