This year, residents and visitors to Thailand’s northeastern Loei province will celebrate the famous Phi Ta Khon, or Ghost festival, on 5-7 July. The festivities, including colorful processions, a parade of unique hand-painted masks, dance completions, and a variety of performances will be held on an around the grounds of Wat Phon Chai.
One of Thailand’s most unusual and vibrant festivals, it is believed to have originated as a form of worship aimed to appease the spirits that protect locals and send rain for the harvest season.
