Tomorrow Thais are going to celebrate Asanha Bucha, a major Buddhist holiday. This Buddhist festival, which takes place during first full moon of the 8th lunar month, celebrates the day Buddha preached his first sermon to his disciples. Thai Buddhists mark the day by visiting local temples to make merit and perform prayers and other traditional rituals. The main celebration will be held in the capital, while similar festivities will be held across the country.
Asanha Bucha is followed by Khao Phansa, the first day of the Buddhist Lent, which lasts for three months.
