Thailand’s Ministry of Transport has appointed a series of committees to explore the possibility of installing GPS tracking devices on all private vehicles, including four-wheel vehicles and motorbikes. The move is expected to reduce the number of car accidents and facilitate police investigations. If the proposed regulation is enacted, vehicle owners will be required to pay up to THB3,000 (around US$99) for a device and an additional monthly fee of THB300.
