The 37th annual Bo Sang Umbrella and San Kamphaeng Handicraft Festival will be held on 17-19 January 2020, in Chiang Mai’s Bo Sang village.
The settlement has gained worldwide popularity for its unique paper umbrellas and fans, and the festival dates back to around 200 years ago.
Traditionally, umbrellas are made from hand-painted mulberry bark paper with sophisticated flower patterns, however cotton and silk are also used. Each item is unique and meticulously done by hand.
The program includes multiple craft demonstrations and markets, cultural performances, special shows and parades.
