According to the Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) Report released by the Department of Disease Control on 31 January, confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus in Thailand remain unchanged at 14, of which 13 are travelers from China and one is a Thai national. Seven patients have already returned home, the other seven stay in hospitals. In an effort to curb the virus spread, five of Thailand’s busiest international airports have implemented enhanced measures for screening passengers arriving from China. All passengers exhibiting suspicious symptoms are quarantined for medical examinations. The Thai Ministry of Public Health has also stepped up screening for Thais whose careers are in close contact with the Chinese, including hotel staff, guides, and taxi drivers. International visitors to Thailand are strongly recommended to avoid direct contact with Chinese nationals, adhere to respiratory and good hand hygiene, and consult a doctor if the slightest symptom shows itself. If you have any questions, please call the round-the-clock hotline 1422 operated by the Department of Disease Control. The World Health Organization reports that the Wuhan coronavirus outbreak has now reached 20 countries outside mainland China.
