The annual Makha Bucha Hae Pha Khuen That Festival will take place at Wat Khien Bang Kaeo, Phatthalung, on 6-8 February.
The merit-making festival culminates in the spectacular Pha Phra Bot procession, which will be held at 10:30 on 8 February. The name “Pha Phra Bot” refers to a strip of yellow holy cloth many hundreds of metres long, which is draped around the base of a stupa containing Buddha’s sacred relics. The celebration is enhanced by the traditional manora dance performed by characters wearing elaborate costumes resembling bird plumage.
