Pattaya’s U-Tapao International Airport is set to open a new, modern terminal soon. The expansion is expected to make U-Tapao Thailand’s third most-popular airport and to become a true alternative to Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports.
U-Tapao’s advantages include relative proximity to the capital (173 km) and well-developed infrastructure. Currently, the airport handles around 800,000 passengers, most of whom are Chinese or Russian, annually. When the new terminal opens, traffic could increase to 3 million passengers a year.
