In order to control the number of visitors to national parks, Thailand’s Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation is planning to restrict ticket availability to the country’s five most popular wildlife reserves to online purchases made at convenience stores.
The program will dispense tickets online to Ao Phang Nga National Park in Phang Nga province, Doi Inthanon National Park in Chiang Mai, Hat Nopparat Thara-Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park in Krabi, Khao Yai National Park predominantly in Nakhon Ratchasima province. If this environmental initiative catches on and proves to be effective, it will be further extended to include all parks nationwide.
