The Hat Nopparat Thara - Mu Koh Phi Phi National Park National Park in Krabi province will reopen to tourists on 15 October, Thailand’s Wildlife and Plant Conservation department (DNP) reports. The government will limit the number of visitors, however.
In early summer, DNP announced that several island destinations would be closed to visitors in an effort to protect them from irreparable harm and relieve the negative environmental effect caused by massive tourism. In addition to Krabi’s national park, Koh Tarutao Marine National Park in Satun and Mu Ko Surin Marine National Park in Phang Nga have been closed.
