This week, the Thai Cabinet may lift some of the restrictions relating to sports and entertainment imposed during the mourning period for the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha raised his concerns about the impact the mourning may have on the nation's tourism industry. This easing will apply to foreign visitors and locals alike. People will be able to resume their normal lives and livelihoods.
Wat Phra Kaeo (Temple of the Emerald Buddha) and the Grand Palace are now partially open for visitors, however some areas are still kept off limits, with the only entrance to the Palace through the Wiset Chaisri Gate.
