Thailand’s cabinet has waived tourist visa fees and cut visa-on-arrival fees in half for a three-month period in an effort to attract more visitors during the high season. Between 1 December 2016 and 28 February 2017, Thai embassies in 19 countries will provide visas without cost. The visa-on-arrival fee will be THB 1,000 (about US $28.00) – half the present THB 2,000 fee. Tourists from Andorra, Bulgaria, Bhutan, China, Cyprus, Ethiopia, India, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, the Maldives, Malta, Mauritius, Romania, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan will benefit from the program.
