During the annual Thailand Tourism Forum in Bangkok, the Phuket Hotels Association unveiled its intention to reposition Phuket as a world-class upmarket tropical destination.
A number of steps were mapped out to reach this ambitious goal, while focusing on experiences, natural beauty and people. The to-do list includes promoting the island’s rich cultural heritage, renovating and upgrading tourist facilities, engaging with the community and ensuring employment for locals.
Last year, Phuket was visited by around 12 million travelers, up 10% from 2015. The association hopes that this number will continue to grow.
