Renovation work will commence at Pattaya's U-Tapao International Airport this year, Thai officials said. The move is part of a large-scale project aimed at building a new industrial city with extra investment privileges to attract targeted high-tech investment, promoting the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC).
After the overhaul is completed, the airport's capacity will increase to 3 million passengers annually. The project is expected to create jobs and support the domestic economy.
