Thailand is preparing its own Michelin Red Guide, the selection of the best Kingdom’s restaurants based on unbiased reviews of recognized inspectors. That will be the first restaurant guide for the Land of Smiles.
The first edition will be launched by the end of this year and is said to be focused mainly on Bangkok, home to a number of upscale dining venues.
Michelin currently has guides in Europe, the USA, and Japan. Following an increasing interest in Asian cuisine, guides covering Seoul, Shanghai, and Singapore were published last year.
A likely three-star candidate for inclusion is Bangkok’s Gaggan, an Indian restaurant which has topped the Asia’s 50 Best list for three consecutive years.
