The Thai government has identified tourism as a key to helping transform the Kingdom’s Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC).
The country’s eastern seaboard boasts excellent transport and trade links crucial to establishing a large economic zone. The project also involves enhancement and promotion of tourist attractions in Chonburi, Rayong and Chachoengsao provinces along the coast.
Other priorities include port expansion and development, making the EEC more accessible to cruise ships and luxury yachts bringing affluent tourists to the region. Regional transport links will be improved as well, according to Yuthasak Supasorn, the tourism authority governor.
