Hat Yai International Airport in Songkhla province is slated for major renovations. The airport will increase capacity, expand passenger areas, improve the taxiway, and install an intrusion prevention system.
A major gateway to Thailand’s Songkhla, Satun, Narathiwat, Yala, and Pattani provinces, Hat Yai airport originates direct flights to Malaysia and Singapore. Currently, the facility is capable of handling around 2.5 mln people each year. Last year, passenger activity grew to 3.9 mln and in 2019 it is expected to reach 4.5 mln.
