Thailand’s Marine and Coastal Resources department said that it would enhance environmental protection measures on Surat Thani’s Koh Samui, Koh Tao and Koh Phangan. In July, the department will impose a ban on activities deemed ecologically “unfriendly”, including feeding wildlife, fishing, anchoring at coral reefs, and wastewater discharge. The regulation will initially remain in force for two years, but could be extended.
