Bangkok’s most vibrant vintage shopping area, Chatachuk night market, often dubbed by locals as JJ Green Night Market, officially closed on 12 September. Its grounds will be returned to the HM Queen Sirikit Garden Foundation and remodeled as part of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s project to recover green space. The land will become the first metropolitan public park in Bangkok - similar to New York’s renowned Central Park, officials say.
Work will include the construction of bridges and walkways connecting HM Queen Sirikit public park with neighbouring Wachirabenjathat, commonly known as Suan Rot Fai public park and Chatuchak Park.
Opened seven years ago, JJ Green Night Market operated from Thursday through Sunday and was regarded as a treasure trove of vintage goods.
